Theri Andino and Spencer Jones, whose previous playing experience was essentially a midnight game, had a strong final session in the 0-10K IMP Pairs to win the event by 4.49 IMPs. Second place went to Robert and Ellen Kent of Marina Del Rey CA.
Andino lives in Niceville FL, in the state’s panhandle. Jones is from Denver. The two qualified third from last in the field of 28 pairs but moved into fifth place after the first final session. They scored 40.92 IMPs in the last set while two of the pairs ahead of them went minus 45.92 and 28.69 while the other two pairs scored in single digits.
Andino plays and teaches bridge in northwest Florida. Jones is an engineer.
