Many fundraising teams have already met their goal for The Longest Day, which supports Alzheimer’s research and care. One of these is the San Diego-based club Bridge in the Park. Their goal for this year was $1600, and with June 21 still more than a week away, they have raised $1680.
Stuart Showalter, fundraising team captain, credits email his most effective tool. “Email is wonderful,” he said. “I just sent emails to friends and got a lot of donations that way. And I asked everyone to forward the message to others. It grows geometrically that way.”
He has also been promoting The Longest Day through bulletin board postings and announcements during games. Bridge in the Park has several things planned for the day – “pick up” games in the morning, a lecture from a bridge instructor and sanctioned games in the afternoon and evening.
