Lavazza cruises to Vanderbilt victory – ACBL President Ken Monzingo presented the Vanderbilt Trophy to the winners of the knockout event: Alejandro Bianchedi, Diego Brenner, Giorgio Duboin, Zia Mahmood, Agustin Madala and Norberto Bocchi. Lavazza beat Cayne 164-111.

Second in the Vanderbilt went to Antonio Sementa, Lorenzo Lauria, Alfredo Versace, Mustafa Cem Tokay, team captain James Cayne and Michael Seamon.


Schwartz takes Jacoby Open Swiss title – The Richard Schwartz team had the Jacoby Open Swiss Teams won with a round to go. The team: Boye Brogeland, Espen Lindkvist, Schwartz, Daniel Korbel, Huub Bertens and Allan Graves.

Second in the Swiss teams went to Nickell: Steve Weinstein, Bobby Levin, Jeff Meckstroth and Eric Rodwell.


Meckstroth edges Ferm for Women’s Swiss victory – In a photo finish, the Sally Meckstroth team won the Machlin Women’s Swiss Teams by 0.23 victory points. The winners: Cecilia Rimstedt, Marion Michielsen, Meckstroth, Meike Wortel and Ida Groenkvist.

Second in the Women’s Swiss: Juanita Chambers, Migry Zur Campanile, team captain Barbara Ferm, Jill Levin, Jill Meyers and Judi Radin.


Nelson, Cohen are Fast Pairs champs – Marty Nelson and Gil Cohen had two big boards on the final round of the NABC+ Fast Open Pairs to win the event.

Second in the Fast Pairs: Terry Beckham and John Koch.


Mott-Smith Trophy – Geoff Hampson and Eric Greco finished with 315.71 masterpoints to win the Mott-Smith Trophy, given to the player who accumulates the most masterpoints at the Spring NABC.

The pair picked up 200 points with their win in the prestigious Norman Kay Platinum Pairs, and 80 more when their Vanderbilt team advanced to the quarterfinal round before being knocked out. They tacked on 35 more on Sunday with a ninth-place finish in the Jacoby Open Swiss Teams.
