Hall of Famer Bob Hamman has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 Sidney H. Lazard Jr. Sportsmanship Award. The honor has been bestowed annually since 2001. It is named in honor of the late son of Sidney Lazard, also a member of the ACBL Bridge Hall of Fame. The Sportsmanship Award is presented to the high-level player who strives to win with class and dignity while leading by example in active ethics. Formal presentation will take place during the Hall of Fame awards ceremony at the Summer NABC in Las Vegas.
Hamman is one of the all-time greats of bridge, with 10 world championships and 52 North American titles to his credit. He is a three-time Player of the Year and was selected by the ACBL Board of Directors as the 1991 Honorary Member for long and distinguished service to bridge.
