Beloved caddy master Jackie Matthews of Roseville CA died Tuesday. She was 80 years old.
“Mom” to thousands, Matthews was the tournament director responsible for recruiting and supervising caddies for nearly three decades. By her reckoning, she worked with at least 6000 caddies, some of whom graduated to become star players in the game.

“I’ve been very fortunate in my life,” Matthews said in an interview earlier this year, “and I was lucky to have something I really loved doing. I owe all of my caddies.”

A full obituary will appear in the December Bridge Bulletin.
