The squad captained by Bob Glasson topped the field of finalists in the Truscott/USPC Swiss Teams, to win the two-day event by 8 victory points over the runners-up led by Stephen Nellissen.
Glasson, of Pennington NJ, played with wife Joann Glasson and teammates Rick Rowland of Wilmington DE and Martin Rabinowitz of Garnet Valley PA. It was the first NABC title for Bob, but the eighth for Joann, although it was her first open NABC win; the previous seven were all earned in Women’s events. The victory was also the first NABC title for Rabinowitz. Rowland picked up his second national win, for the same event. He was a member of the winning Senior Swiss squad in 2010.
The winners finished with a four-session total of 124.61 victory points. The Philadelphia-area teammates came to Toronto to represent District 4 in the Championship Flight of the Grand National Teams.
Playing for the runners-up were Nellissen of Washington Township NJ, Bob Gwirtzman of Brooklyn NY, Stephen Mackay of Markam ON and James Priebe of Mississauga ON. Their total was 116.57 VP.
Narrowly behind in third place was Edward Piken’s squad with 116.37 VP and Glenn Eisenstein’s team with 116.10 VP.
