U.S. teams advanced to finals in the Women’s and Senior team events at the World Bridge Games in Wroclaw, Poland, while the Mixed team was eliminated.
In both the Women’s and Senior events, the final match is between the USA and France.
The USA Women (Beth Palmer, Sylvia Shi, Lynn Deas, Kerri Sanborn, Janice Seamon-Molson, Tobi Sokolow and npc David Sokolow) defeated China 183–154. France (Benedicte Cronier, Sylvie Willard, Catherine D’Ovidio, Nathalie Frey, Vanessa Reess, Joanna Zochowska and npc Laurent Thuillez) were 224–205 winners over Scotland.
In the Senior competition, the USA (Reese Milner, Hemant Lall, Bob Hamman, Chip Martel, Jeff Meckstroth, Zia Mahmood, npc Petra Hamman and coach Jacek Pszczola) dominated Denmark 192-100. France (Nicholas Dechelette, Georges Iontzeff, Jean-Jacques Palau, Pierre-Yves Guillaumin, Phillippe Toffier, Pierre Schmidt and npc Eric Gautret) beat Taiwan 227–193.
The Open final matchup is between Monaco (Krzysztof Martens, Jean Charles Allavena, Geir Helgemo, Tor Helness, Franck Multon, Pierre Zimmermann and coach Dominik Filipowicz) and the Netherlands (Sjoret Brink, Bas Drijver, Bauke Muller, Simon DeWijs, Bart Nab, Bob Drijver, npc Anton Maas and coach Ton Bakkeren).
In the Mixed teams, the USA (Sylvia Moss, Michael Seamon, Sheri Winestock, Brad Moss, Sue Picus, Alex Ornstein and npc Phillip Alder) lost a close match to Russia 209–202. Russia will play the Netherlands in the final.
Pairs events are also in the final rounds Friday and Saturday.
