Juniors will play the pros on December 21 in a set of speedball games on Bridge Base Online thanks to contributions from noted bridge player Barry Goren.
As part of several auctions held on The Longest Day this year, Goren won opportunities to play speedball games with bridge superstars Bob Hamman, Curtis Cheek and Bart Bramley. With these wins he is creating a charity team game in which United States Bridge Federation Juniors will partner with the three pros and Goren.
The Longest Day is a fundraiser held on June 21 – the longest day of the year – to support the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The four 16-board team matches will be shown via BBO Vugraph at 4 p.m. EST on December 21, the shortest day of the year. In addition, Larry Cohen, Joe Grue and Michael and Debbie Rosenberg will be commentating during the games.
Participants in the Jr/Pro Charity Game were:
Team LVBRIDGEBUMS ( Curtis Cheek, Barry Goren, Ben Kristensen and Michael Hu)
Team SCAPROS (Bart Bramley, Bob Hamman, Edmund Wu and Kevin Rosenberg)
Team SCAPROS won by 3, in a match that came down to the last board.
